Former Bolt managers challenge the British painting services market by creating the Adam platform

Confusing price lists and long waiting times have been relegated to history. Former Bolt managers Jakub Dvorak and Roman Sysel have decided to modernize crafts and build a platform through which you can get a qualified painter the next day with just a few clicks. Now they are coming to Great Britain to challenge other big competitors and carve out a position in the British market.

Roman Sysel and Jakub Dvorak were there at the launch of the Estonian start-up Bolt, one of the largest in Europe. Sysel joined Bolt in 2015 as the first employee in the Central Europe region, and worked directly with founder Markus Villig. Dvorak joined the start-up a few months later. Together, they contributed to Bolt's rapid growth in the entire Central and Eastern European region.

The success of Bolt encouraged them to come up with their own ideas and so, after transportation, they decided to modernize room painting. They created the Adam platform to connect customers with experienced painters. Long waiting times and complicated price lists are replaced with a simple, transparent online calculator that immediately displays the estimated price of the work and allows the customer to submit their request with a single click. After that, Adam connects the customer with a painter who will be available at the desired time and location. The platform already operates successfully in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Ireland.

“We are building the future of painting services. We see some gaps in how the British market functions. Painting often needs to be arranged long in advance, the services are expensive, and the price is not always agreed with the client beforehand. This was also the case in the countries where we already operate, which is why we are constantly improving the whole process and trying to create a market that functions properly for both customers and painters. Expanding to the British market is definitely a challenge, but the results show it was a good move and we believe the platform will also be successful in Great Britain,” comments co-founder Jakub Dvorak.

In Great Britain, the platform is already available in London and Birmingham. Painting services can be ordered at The launch was preceded by a pilot period during which the platform completed hundreds of successful orders in the two cities.

“We’re aware we’re coming to a very competitive market full of platforms that might seem similar to ours at first sight. Yet we see that the current platforms actually don’t bring any significant added value either for the customers or for the professionals offering their services. Customers still have to spend time searching for the ideal professional among a flood of price offers, while the professionals also have to spend time sending out offers to all the customers requesting their services. We want to make it as easy as possible for both sides. This means customers will see the final price in advance and place an order with one click, while the painters will do only what they do best and what brings them money - painting. Adam will basically take care of the entire administration, communication and invoicing,” says co-founder Roman Sysel about the platform’s competitive advantage and how they plan to secure their position in the British market.
